Ministry of Labour Scholarship for Labour Children's Education

The Ministry of Labour & Employment enforces a special scheme under the welfare funds to provide financial assistance for the education of the wards/children of Beedi Workers, Iron Ore, Manganese Ore & Chrome Ore Mine Workers, Limestone & Dolomite Mine Workers, and Cine Workers.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Either of the parents must be a Beedi, Mine, or Cine worker with at least 6 months of continuous service.
  • The monthly income of the worker's family from all sources does not exceed ₹10,000/- per month.
  • The scholar must have passed the last qualifying examination on the first attempt.
  • The scholar should be enrolled in a recognized regular course of general or technical education in a recognized institution (Class 1 to post-graduation).

Amount of Scholarship

The financial assistance varies depending on the level of education pursued by the student:

Class / Course Amount (Per Annum)
Class 1 to 4 ₹1,000 Female / ₹1,000 Male
Class 5 to 8 ₹1,500 Female / ₹1,500 Male
Class 9 & 10 ₹2,000 Female / ₹2,000 Male
Class 11 & 12 ₹3,000 Female / ₹3,000 Male
Degree Courses (B.A/B.Sc/B.Com) ₹6,000 Female / ₹6,000 Male
Professional Courses (MBBS, BE, B.Tech) ₹25,000 Female / ₹25,000 Male

How to Apply?

Applications for this scheme must be submitted online through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP) at scholarships.gov.in. Ensure you have a valid Aadhaar card linked to a bank account in the student's name for direct benefit transfer (DBT).
